Matrix 3D Jewelry Design Software: A Review of Gemvision Matrix v8
As a jewelry designer, I had the opportunity to visit my friends Jean-Therese and Allan Stratton in Jeanco, Milford, Auckland, New Zealand. During my visit, we discussed the latest software trends in jewelry design. One of their friends, who uses Gemvision Matrix, was extremely excited about the new v8 demo on his iPhone. He showcased how the program allows users to change metals and visualize what each ring would look like in different metals.
Gemvision Matrix v8 does have some impressive features, including an envision wax printer that is helping them gain popularity. However, after trying it out, I was left feeling underwhelmed. The software lacks the dynamic capabilities of Jewelry Cad Dream, a program that has set the standard for jewelry design software. Unfortunately, Gemvision Matrix v8 falls short in this regard.
One of the main issues with Gemvision Matrix v8 is its lack of power. As it is based on the Rhino platform, it struggles to keep up with more demanding tasks. I likened it to a 4-cylinder motor that's out of tune – it has potential but doesn't quite deliver.
It was also disappointing to learn that Gemvision Matrix v8 does not have HISTORY functionality, which is a crucial feature for many users. This lack of innovation may be why the software feels outdated compared to other options on the market.
As I discussed with my friends, there's room for improvement in future versions of Gemvision Matrix. Perhaps with a more powerful platform and additional features, it could rival Jewelry Cad Dream. For now, however, I'm left feeling underwhelmed by the v8 release.
